Top Grade 8 honours to PianoMan scholar
Samuel Yetman, a PianoMan Scholar, scored a superb 145 out of a maximum 150 on his Grade 8 ABSRM piano examination in November 2010.
"This is the finest result I have ever seen for the Associated Board Grade 8 examination – the Board’s highest grade," said International Concert Pianist Richard Meyrick who coached Sam jointly with his wife Felicity. "Sam must be in the running for this year's coveted Gold Medal."
The examiner's remarks were full of praise for Sam's performance - "played with poised stylistic awareness," "a concert-level performance . . . terrific," "sensitive and thoughtful,” “an outstanding, memorised recital complemented by truly excellent supporting tests."
WELL DONE SAM!!
Financial Times interview Richard Meyrick was interviewed for an article in the Financial Times magazine 'How to spend it' along with students Christopher Edwards, Richard Hardie and Edmund Noon.
Pianoman for schools
The Pianoman project, generously sponsored by Man Group plc in its first phase 2005-2008, was extended from September 2009 for a five-year term thanks to private funding. In 2010 Richard gave masterclasses and public recitals in 26 schools from the Home Counties to Thurso in the North of Scotland.
Unique gift idea
International Concert Pianist Richard Meyrick is offering a Piano Lesson Voucher at his widely acclaimed Piano Studio in the City of London. A 60-minute piano lesson and a chance to play a fabulous Bluthner grand piano could be the ideal gift.
Congratulations, Thomas Mann and Nick Metcalf!
Tom Mann and Nick Metcalf, who have both been studying with Richard at The Piano Studio for two or three years, flew through their Grade Eight exam in 2010 – Nick with a very respectable Merit and Tom with a mighty Distinction. "This a wonderful achievement. I am very pleased their hard work paid off," Richard said. Tom works in the financial sector in the City of London and Nick regularly travels down from Liverpool for his lessons with Richard at The Barbican.
The Pupils’ Concert at The Bluthner Piano Centre, MAYFAIR
Our concert held on Wednesday 3 November 2010 was the biggest we have yet staged with over 20 brave pianists making their outstanding contributions. With repertoire ranging from Bach to the present day and the inclusion of a number of outstanding young Pianoman scholars amongst Richard’s City clients, the evening was a spectacular success greatly enjoyed by all. It is hoped that the next event may be arranged as soon as June 2011.
